The produce at LACE is grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Some of our farms are Certified Organic, and some are not because they are small operations and either can't afford or choose not to undergo the organic certification process. We know our local growers, and have visited many of their operations. Small farming is labor intensive, encourages healthy soil and biodiversity, and generates a superior quality product.

As a small retail operation ourselves, we purchase small quantities of
produce at a time, direct from the farmers. As a result, our array of nutrient dense produce closely reflects the land's seasonal bounty and we have face to face contact with the people growing what we eat. This is honest food!

In contrast, large grocery chain stores purchase huge quantities of product from distributors, sourced from giant industrial farms operating like a factory, not a web of life. Produce from industrial agriculture is laden with artificial and chemical additives, is nutrient deficient, and taxes the immune, nervous, endocrine and digestive systems of the eater's body over time. Crop subsidies and dangerous farming practices make this possible. The cost of food reflects a process. We are what we eat. Thank you for buying local Produce!
